JASON: THE TIES THAT BIND

It was not unusual for Jason to wake up a few times during his sleep. He could not be sure if any of the times were because Dirk had gotten squirmy or not. Every time he woke, Dirk was still there. Last night had not been some kind of dream.

Long after the the fingers of dawn had crept around the edges of the bedroom's blinds, and the full light of morning had lit them gently, the alarm Jason had set hours ago chimed. He had been drifting in a doze and the pull to wakefulness was easy to follow. Easy because he had planned for a slow start before they had to leave. Which meant plenty of time to laze around in bed. He still had to fumble a bit with his phone to turn the alarm off.

"Dirk," he said softly, his voice not quite as awake as the rest of him. One hand wound into Dirk's now dry hair, and Jason let the other trail down Dirk's back. "Dirk, it's time to wake up." Now his voice was operating at normal volume.

"Amazing," Jason replied. "I want to do all of that again. I want to be with you like this again and again."

He didn't want to demand too much, worried he would find the limit on what Jason was willing to let him have, yet he didn't want to slow down either. Now that he had this, he couldn't do without. Instant addiction.

"We'll probably need to take a break sometime to eat. Eventually," Dirk pointed out, but as flippant as he tried to make that sound it just came out sincerely a little disappointed.

"Eventually," Jason agreed. He turned his head so he could press his lips to Dirk's hair. Then nuzzled in, breathing in the warm smell that was Dirk. Jason was not the protagonist of some YA novel so did not have a superhuman sense of smell that let him derive a long poetic description. Dirk smelled warm and good, and of course like his own soap and shampoo. Eventually, Dirk would probably pick out his own, but until then Jason could enjoy another little marker of belonging.

"We can miss dinner time and raid the leftovers when we want to venture out," Jason said into Dirk's hair. If Alfred was disappointed, he would recover. Anyway, he would probably be more surprised by the two of them showing up on time or at all. The hand that had been on Dirk's hair moved to slide under Jason's jacket to wrap around Dirk's back, fingers gently tracing against Dirk's skin.

Dirk let out a contented sigh as Jason's hand migrated across his body. Hair, back, he wanted it everywhere. The warmth felt good against the rapidly cooling skin thanks to the sweat.

"Mmm... maybe," he said. He actually kind of wanted to do dinner, if it would likely just be them and maybe Alfred. But it was entirely possible that would change by the time it was actually time for dinner. "Clean up and see how we feel?"

"I like that idea," Jason replied. If they lingered too much longer things might start to get a little uncomfortable. They had less clothing to be worried about this time, they could probably just-

Jason squirmed to the edge of the bed, Dirk more a hindrance of awkward weight than the weight itself. Which was not much of a hindrance. Allowing Dirk to get up to his feet. "So shower level clean up or smaller?"

Ugh. Getting up. Even though Dirk had been the one to suggest it and he stood by that suggestion he was still feeling very petulant about needing to actually do it.

"Shower. A quick one," he decreed. It'd be nice to get a good wash up in before bed regardless of messing around - though that did mean he did finally have to remove Jason's jacket, leaving it carefully folded and to the side.

Jason touched his jacket after Dirk put it to the side. When they came back he'd have to put it around Dirk's shoulders again.

"Quick shower," Jason said with a grin. They could manage that. Probably.

Up on his feet, Jason led the way to the bathroom. Not that he thought Dirk had forgotten the way, but it felt like continuing to invite Dirk into his life. The shower was the walk-in kind without a tub. The floor worked along with a partial glass wall to contain the water to the shower area. No need for doors or curtains. There were bathrooms in the manor with large tubs if you desired a bath. Large enough that Jason could use them comfortably, and he wondered for a moment if one of them would be big enough for the both of them.

He pulled Dirk with him past the glass partition and turned on the water. The water was cold for a moment before the warmth took over, and he set the tap to roughly the same temperature as he had with their last shower. A decent baseline. The shower itself was nice and clearly what had inspired Jason's setup.

Arguably running his hands over Dirk's stomach right away was in an effort for a good and quick cleanup.

Dirk liked being led to the bathroom, too. Liked that Jason cared enough to invite him into his world, like he actively wanted him in it.

He shivered at the sudden brief chill that came with the shower turning on before it warmed up, closing his eyes and letting the water soak him, soak the both of them. The touch against his stomach had him sighing again, reaching up to cover Jason's hand with his own. He kept the kiss he pressed to Jason's cheek light, chaste, not risking something deeper. He didn't need the temptation.

Dirk could feel Jason's smile before he pulled away and Jason smiled into his eyes. It was warm and genuine.

"Your shoulder must be feeling better if you don't need my help," Jason said in good humor. He picked up the bar soap with his hand that was not under Dirk's and turned it dexterously with his fingers to work up a one-handed lather. Their stomachs were where the bulk of the mess had been, choosing to focus on Dirk first was the choice on tenuous ground.

"I never said that," Dirk points out, pressing another soft kiss to Jason's cheek, fingers tracing invisible lines along the back of Jason's hand. Not holding it in place, just touching him for the joy of it. "I always want your hands on me."

He was always the one wanting to possess people, being the one desired, owned, was thrilling and new.

Jason had spent his formative years fighting for every scrap of the world to call his own. The years spent in the manor had barely tempered that need to be possessive. It was fucking thrilling for that need to not be turned aside.

Having enough soap lather now he put the bar down and placed his soap slick fingers against Dirk's stomach. He gently moved his hands, to not disrupt Dirk's hand on his own, and worked the soap and water against Dirk's skin. "... I worry that I ask too much."

Dirk drew in a deep breath and exhaled it slowly, letting his eyes slide shut and just basking in the touch of Jason's hands against his stomach.

"You haven't asked me for anything," Dirk said first, before remembering that actually Jason had in fact asked him to stay, stay as long as possible, which for most people was very possibly a big ask. "... anything I wasn't already planning on doing."

Reminding himself they were in here for a reason, he leaned just enough to pick up the soap from where Jason set it down, having a much faster time working up a lather with two hands so he could press them against Jason's stomach.

"I always want your hands on me, too," Jason sighed, enjoying Dirk's touch and attempting to not lose focus.

"Asking isn't always with words," Jason pointed out. He moved his hands up to Dirk's chest, which probably did not need the amount of cleaning attention he was giving. It was not possible for Jason to not spend some time appreciating Dirk's body.

"Don't hold back with me," Jason said after a moment. "I know things didn't work out for you before, but I didn't even imagine having a boyfriend. The possibility felt so unlikely I just... didn't think about it."

Being more clean was hardly a bad thing. Dirk had opted for a shower over a quick sink clean up for a reason, even if the second would have done just as well.

"I'm selfishly glad for that," Dirk admitted with a little huffing sigh. Because he couldn't imagine someone not seeing Jason for the treasure he was and latching onto him as soon as they were given a chance. It would have been awkward if Dirk had to get someone else out of the picture first. He moved his hands up Dirk's stomach to his chest as well, his shoulders, his neck. He didn't need to be this thorough, but he wanted to be. Wanted his hands on him too.

The world probably could not survive two people that clicked this well with Jason.

Jason leaned into Dirk's hands on his neck, putting more pressure there. "I'm selfishly glad you arrived at the point you did and that you have specific desires." He moved his hands around to Dirk's back now that Dirk's front was reasonably cleaned. "I want to find everything that we enjoy. Having suggestions helps."

Honestly, the same could be said for Dirk. That said given how many mental copies of him there were, someone outside of himself who worked so well with him was already a danger.

Probably more than anyone realized. What Dirk wouldn't do for Jason was a small list growing smaller by the hour.

"I think we're both feeling things out as we go for the sexy stuff," Dirk said with a raised eyebrow and a brief half grin, stepping closer to make it easier for Jason to get his back as his slid around Jason to do the same. Jason had bulk, but Dirk was long of limb, so it worked out. "I could show you some of my favorite movies and shows though, got everything digital."

It did help that Dirk was not treating him as strange for lacking a ready-to-go library of desires. They were both feeling things out as they went, but Jason really did want to know the things Dirk wanted. The big, the small, the sexy, and not.

"I'd really like that. I want to learn all the things you like. I want you to feel safe enough to share all of it."

It helped that so far Jason had been on-board with everything Dirk suggested. It made him feel bolder about it for the future, to be clear on what he wanted.

His love for his brother's movies were pretty personal and deep, a lot of people didn't 'get' them, but Jason had taken a chance with stories he loved, so... He'd have to see if they even existed in this world first, admittedly. Jason might have already seen them. He hummed thoughtfully as he washed, hands lingering longer than they needed to just so he could keep touching Jason.
